I am happy to see Amarcordlab’s website going live. It’s been lots of work to get here with the assistance and patience of my wife, also in charge of the logo and a few other upcoming things.
I wanted Amarcordlab to be live to sort of stave off a few trends:
– Analog equipment getting scarce, save for a handful of new releases.
– Sellers getting… sloppy, to put it like this, making outlandish or frivolous claims.
– Useable equipment getting neglected
Personally, I found some pleasure in learning progressively how to service and refurbish some equipment – I still have lots to learn. The moment I can generate just enough revenues to cover the costs and my darkroom expenses, I can be happy.
One note on pricing. We are active also on Ebay and Etsy – largely with the same inventory but with some differences I’ll explain in a future post. The website is the cheaper place to buy. Etsy the most expensive. It’s mainly as on some marketplaces it is very difficult to carve out a margin!
