DELIVERY TIMES AND METHODS
When will I receive my order?
I aim to dispatch orders twice a week. My best estimates of shipping times will be available in the product description.
In this early phase, I am working with a dedicated company to select the best couriers for each destinations. Times for Europe should already be accurate, for other destination I hope to be able to better estimate it over time.
Which couriers do you use?
I currently have an agreement with:
– Correos Express for Spain
– UPS and FedEX for all other destinations
Please note in most cases I cannot resort to different dispatchers.
What are the estimated delivery times?
Allow 1-3 working days to dispatch the order, then it should look like this:
- Orders to Spanish peninsula and France: delivered in generally 1 to 3 working days
- Orders to Central Europe: generally 2 to 4 working days.
- Orders to other Europe destinations: 3 to 6 working days.
- Orders to other destinations: 1-2 weeks.
I can provide a better estimate if you get in touch!
TESTING AND MORAL INTEGRITY 🙂
What are the operational conditions of the equipment you sell?
All the equipment is expected to be in good working order.
Check the individual description as they will point out any discrepancy, if present.
All tests are noted in the descriptions of individual products.
Light seals.
Whenever needed, new light seals are installed (noted in product description). At times this may not happen, normally when the camera does not need a change – or we don’t know the camera enogh.
Shutter ops.
Shutter speed is tested wherever possible with my tools. We test the general discrepancy from the declared speed, but consider that some discrepancies in quick speeds are very common in older equipment and not considered an issue. As per November 2023, we are not yet able to be precise when testing high speed – but this is expected to change by March 2024 approximatelu
We want to improve the accuracy of our testing tools, that will be covered in a blog post at some point. Ideally, we want to get to the point we can provide accurate and standardised testing reports.
Film Loading \ unloading \ winding
Performed for all formats that involve loading of film (noted in product description)
Ad Hoc tests
I know some cameras better than other. When additional tests or preemptive actions have been taken, this will appear in the product description
Do you perform film tests?
Film shoot and development is not done as a standard action as it would impact the operability of the store if done at scale and introduce long delays (just looking at my development backlog whilst I type this).
However, if a camera strikes my fancy, or if I deem useful to do it, I will take it for a spin.
In such case, the test will be mentioned.
OTHER QUESTIONS
Do you only sell here?
I also sell on etsy and ebay. It is cheaper here, and often items are offered on the store before moving to the marketplace.
Have I heard right? Painted cameras? Are they safe?
Ah yes, you silly!
I mean, is the paint stable? Is it resistant?
Yes! The process to apply it is infact quite laborious:
– chrome or previous paint needs to be removed
– pieces needs to be properly cleaned
– painted pieces are oven cured
For this reason not ALL cameras can be painted – you wouldn’t want to trash some plastic in the oven. However it’s often a matter of practice, and I am on it.
I care about sustainability. What is your policy in those regards?
I share your concern.
Be mindful that I am just starting out, but some actions have been taken already, and other will follow.
SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING
I use only recyclable alternatives to bubble and plastic wraps. You can reuse it, or throw it with the paper.
NEXT ACTIONS
I am looking into sourcing the outer packaging (the box) sustainable too. They are carton, but I want some specific reassurances on the production process.
Transport is the next thing. Some couriers allow to offset the carbon emissions of the delivery – I am looking into making them my first choice. I will update this space
